Stack Type Flexographic Press: Printing and Die-Cutting in One Line

A Stack type flexographic press is built around a simple idea: keep every printing unit accessible, keep the web moving in a straight line, and let the machine finish as much of the label as possible in one pass. At Weigang, we build this stack press for adhesive label production, with three die-cutting stations and a configuration that can be adapted to different label jobs.

In the printing units, a ceramic anilox cylinder transfers the ink, and each unit has 360-degree plate adjustment. That combination gives the operator control over ink laydown and register without dismantling the unit. Because the units are arranged in a stack, the web passes through the printing stations in sequence, and each station can be checked and adjusted on its own.

The three die-cutting stations are the heart of the finishing section. The first and second stations can work on both sides of the web, while the third station can be used as a sheeter. When the third station sheets the material, an optional conveyor belt can output the finished products in an orderly stream, which reduces manual handling at the end of the line.

Web control is handled by a computerized web-guiding system mounted in front of the printing unit, so the material enters the print section in the right position. Unwinding and rewinding tension are controlled automatically by magnetic powder, and two rewinders are available as an option. A video inspecting system can also be added to monitor print quality at high speed.

The press can complete material feeding, printing, varnishing, drying, laminating, die-cutting and rewinding or sheeting in one process, which is why it suits adhesive label work. The ink rollers can be separated from the printing roller and kept running while the machine stops, and the main motor uses an inverter for stepless speed adjustment.
